Hello my friends and family! I send my greetings to you from the beautiful city of Nanjing. Let me tell you a little bit of how I got here, and then I'll get into the really exciting stuff.
This is a picture of me with seven other people who flew to China. We are all sitting in the Vancouver airport waiting for our plane to arrive.
After our plane came in, we hopped on board for a long 11-hour flight. What was really nice is that the plain was only half full! The stewardesses let us move around and lay out on the empty seats. Being able to sleep well made it easier for us to transition into the different time zone. When we got there our teacher led us the way down to a bus where we enjoyed another 5 hour bus ride. We made it safely and had a great time talking to the bus driver and practicing our Chinese. He doesn't speak any English, but one of the funny things he told us (in Chinese) was that in order for Michael Phelps(sp?) to have done so well in the Olympics, he had to have been trained with crocodiles swimming behind him. We all laughed and had a great time with the man.
