"Wherefore, be of good cheer, and do not fear, for I the Lord am with you, and will stand by you; and ye shall bear record of me, even Jesus Christ, that I am the Son of the living God, that I was, that I am, and that I am to come."

Katie's monologue

This is what Katie had to tell me this morning as she waited for me to eat lunch after work before we went to the game...

"I am too young to be in college. I should not be here! I haven't lived long enough... People my age should not be getting engaged. But they are! I can't do that!
I look at people and I think, 'No, you can't go to IHOP at three in the morning. Go home and go to bed right now!' .....
I don't even have a beard! ...No one here has a beard! ...Except their bearded friends...
Why are you laughing at me? I am trying to bear my soul here!"

Um, that's what I can remember. It was hilarious to say the least, especially if you imagine her saying it in an exacerbated and desperate tone. I think she's having a little culture shock... But she'll be alright. :D

She also said something about someone at work telling her she flirts too much, and someone else telling her that it was ok and that some people just can't help it. So, she's a little confused about that. And then someone else told her that she was a derrogatory person. After she told me that, she said, "What does that mean anyway?" I told her and then she said, "That's what I thought! I think BYU is rubbing off on me." I said, "BYU is derrogatory?" "No, they used big words, and derrogatory is a big word!" HAHA! Wow, I'm so glad she's here to brighten my day.

As we were eating lunch her friend called to see where she was and if she was going to the game. Katie said yes, and she'd meet her there. Then she said to me something about her not being able to get there herself or something, and I said, "This coming from the girl who didn't know how to cross the street by herself when she got here..." (She called me on the second day here and told me she was using the law building internet because she couldn't figure out how to get to the other side of the street and to main campus. So she asked me to show her how to get across... :D I love this girl. Shawna, it's a big job you'll be doing taking care of her while I'm in China. But you'll love it!

Katie Katie Katie... I could hear her saying those words as I read! I'm so excited to see you guys! I remember the culture shock, and even for a Utah native, it's a big difference! But don't worry, I'm up for the job! It will be like being a freshman all over again, but better!

I could totall hear her saying that. I miss you guys so much. It doesn't seem like very long ago that we were in Grandmary's sun room "lip synching" and Katie was doing Britney Spears' "Sometimes I Run." Ah the memories! I am glad that Katie is still Katie, and that she is being so responsible there. If you guys ever need a break, there is a lot of sun and some fine beaches out here in CA!

Look at me I am married NOW!! And, I can drive on those crazy roads I could not even cross!! I just wish I made a little more sense even to myself. I am so confused reading that I mean really why would I have a beard? And who has bearded friends? Not me.
