We LOVE conference weekend. This happens twice a year. It's a time when all members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints can watch a five-session conference with speakers from the world leaders of the church including the prophet (of course), the twelve apostles, and other men and women leaders. There are three two-hour sessions on Saturday and two two-hour sessions on Sunday so it is an event! For those who aren't familiar with the culture of members of The Church of Jesus Christ, we have some pretty awesome traditions for this one weekend, mostly revolving around food, naturally. Ha! Our little family is still young so most of our traditions revolve around how to keep three young children interested or at least occupied and quiet for eight hours!! (Our kids go to bed before the last session on Saturday night.)
Well, let me show you! Before and between sessions, we try to burn a little of their energy off by mowing the lawn...

...and running errands. Haha, actually these two pictures were taken earlier in the week but I just love how cute and grown up these kids are getting to be. They want to help and be like their parents and that is so flattering to me as well as humbling. I've got to make sure I'm always setting the right example.

HERE we are at conference! We buckled the kids in for a while and let them eat snacks. That's one sure-fire way to briefly keep a toddler busy.

In all seriousness though, before and between sessions, we do try to burn off some energy. The kids enjoyed racing each other for the first time ever. Abi won - for those curious readers.

Abi was so tired on Saturday! This poor girl took naps clear up until the first day of Kindergarten and still does on her days off. Her body just needs more sleep.

Part of our tradition is watching the conference in a tent. This stems from a story in The Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ where a prophet in ancient America was preaching to the people who had come from miles around to hear him. They pitched their tents all around his podium while he had a big conference and taught them. This story is a good reminder to us to face our lives toward Jesus Christ and His teachings so for fun, we pitch a little tent for the kids to play in while they listen. It worked pretty well!

Abi cracks me up sometimes. Actually a lot! We walked the neighborhood a few times between and after sessions. We are so grateful to live in a place that is so beautiful and perfect for our family's needs.
